New York State Outdoorsmen Hall of Fame

Newsletter

January 2008

We hope that everyone had a great holiday season and are enjoying winter activities.  The new year will mark the 25th Anniversary of NYSOHOF and we hope to have several things to commemorate it.  Remember dues are due.

In December 2007 the following officers were elected for 2008:

            President – Leo Maloney

First Vice President – Robert Grose

Second Vice President – Gary Bullis

            Treasurer – Bridget Keesler

            Secretary – Leslie VanNort

Directors for 2 Years:  Scott Faulkner and Howie Cushing

Directors with one year remaining in term:  Pat Arnold and Ken Ziobro

Remember that all nominations for inductees and special awards must be turned in by January 30.  They can be given to any officer or mailed to our new post office box address – PO Box 4118, Utica, NY 13504.

This year our main fundraiser will consist of a money raffle.  For those of you who are receiving this newsletter by e-mail we will be mailing the tickets separately to you soon in the hopes that you can support our efforts by selling or purchasing tickets.  The drawing will take place at our annual banquet, April 26, 2008.

We will have a booth at the Central New York Sportsmen’s Show on February  2 at the Kallet Civic Center in Oneida from 10 – 4 and at the Trout Expo on March 1 at the Whitestown Community Center.  At these shows we will distribute information on the NYS Outdoorsmen Hall of Fame and its programs, sell memberships, and sell raffle tickets.  Volunteers are needed to help at these booths.  If anyone can donate a hour or two, please contact Leslie VanNort at < thelovelyone7227@yahoo.com> or Leo Maloney at < lmalone1@twcny.rr.com> .

Reminder:  Our meeting dates will be January 17, February 21, and March 20 at 7 pm at the Lodge at New Hartford Gander Mountain.

As indicated earlier this year we would like to have a special day in September where we would hold a barbeque, meeting and have special events such as seminars or demonstrations of outdoor skills, displays of outdoor organizations, and booth by manufacturers of outdoor equipment.  But we will need a commitment to see if sufficient numbers of people are interested in attending.

If you are planning on attending, please return the following form or respond by e-mail to Leo Maloney:

_____ Yes, I will plan on attending a Special NYSOHOF Day in Sept.
